Dancers (Red & White) is a dynamically generated animation commissioned for the North lobby of the Mercedes House building in New York City. The artwork transforms a 20-foot wide wall into the stage for a flirtatious dance between two abstract lines. Created by Camille Utterback and Michelle Higa Fox, the piece uses projected animation and specially designed software to produce a site-specific art piece alive with surprise and motion.

Inspired by the spare and fluid work of architect Enrique Norton, Dancers (Red & White) plays against the lobby’s interior. The lines in the piece break out of the linear accent lighting, and, as the animation progresses, become flirtatious, mischievous characters that swirl and run together in a constantly changing duet.
